Game Of Thrones Collection

Game Of Thrones Collection

To celebrate the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, Diageo and HBO have released a series of limited whiskies in honor of the show. Each of the whiskies has been paired with one of Westeros’ iconic homes.

The Night Watch
Oban Bay Reserve

The Oban Distillery is set beneath a bluff that overlooks the bay, on the border between the Western Highlands and the Isles of Scotland. Just like Kasteel Zwart, where the Night Watch has its headquarters and which is located on the border between Westeros and the countries behind the Wall, this rock wall forms the division between land and sea. The richness of the drink is balanced, with a woody, spicy dryness that the Night Watch could enjoy even on the coldest nights.

House Baratheon
Royal Lochnagar 12 years old

A royal tradition is the inspiration for the iconic match between House Baratheon and Royal Lochnagar. Like Robert Baratheon, who ruled his Seven Kingdoms from the Iron Throne, Royal Lochnagar was seen as a whiskey worthy of a royal family; after the visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1848, the distillery was given royal status. This balanced royal taste with delicate fruits and spices is best enjoyed neat.

House Tyrell
Clynelish Reserve

House Tyrell of Highgarden rules the Reach, the lush and fertile region of Westeros. Like the Reach, Clynelish is located between green fields and rolling hills, with beautiful views of the North Sea. This vibrant golden Scotch, like Huis Tyrell, is light and floral, but with its underlying complex combination of highland and maritime qualities should not be underestimated.

House Greyjoy
Talisker Select Reserve

Beginning its long maturation in the same year that NASA launched the Apollo 15 mission to the moon, the 657 bottles ultimately released in 2011 reflect 40 years of quiet maturation in our island warehouses and the distinctive floral aromas that come Orkney’s uniquely aromatic heather peat.

The product of seventeen refill casks, carefully hand selected by Max McFarlane, our longest standing Whisky Maker, for their exceptional character, our 1971 vintage reveals layers of rich and complex flavour. This whisky offers a smooth, long and lingering finish that’s both deliciously sweet and spicy with a rich plum aftertaste.

House targaryen
Cardhu Gold Reserve

Driven by the same fiery spirit as Daenerys Targaryen’s female leadership, this single malt is an ode to legendary women and their determination. The Cardhu Distillery was run by Helen Cumming and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth in the 19th century. These were times when the whiskey industry was almost entirely dominated by men.

House Lannister
Lagavulin 9 years old

Lagavulin has been made on the coast of Islay for over 200 years. Although the distillery’s production is modest compared to its mainland counterparts, Lagavulin is one of the most iconic single malts in the world. The whiskey is crafted with the same calculation and persistence that the Lannisters used in their conquest of the Iron Throne. This Lagavulin is a thunderous whiskey reminiscent of the riches of the Lannisters. It tastes best when it is drunk neat or with a drop of water.

House Stark
Dalwhinnie Winter’s frost

Powerful and resilient, House Stark is capable of surviving even the most extreme conditions in Winterfell, the castle of the Starks. Dalwhinnie, one of Scotland’s highest distilleries, is as cold and remote as the north that House Stark considers home, making the two an iconic couple. Naturally, the Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost tastes best chilled or with ice.

House Tully
Singleton Glendullan Select

Located in Riverrun, House Tully rules the River Lands like a master. The power of water flows through both House Tully and The Singleton Glendullan Select as this whiskey is produced on the banks of the Fiddich River in the wooded hills of Dufftown. Here, the water flowing through the landscape is utilized with the help of a water wheel to provide the entire distillery with energy.
