Taste note

  • Colour:

    Old gold

  • Nose:

Closed nose in the beginning but opens up quite nicely if you let it settle in the glass. aromas' of Orkeny peat smoke covered in heather honey and sherry notes. Also citrus aromas like oranges and mandarines. than some pleasant aromas of sandalwood, marmalade, prunes and warm honey. in the end you will notice some white pepper and a hint of mint.

  • Palate:

On the palate it starts out with malty and earthy flavors with orange oil and honey. Very classic HP flavors. Warming and rich. Greasy, padded mouthfeel with very slight hints of smoke, salt and pepper, but less than I would expect. With water it gets a little sweeter with orange marmalade appearing.

  • Finish:

Long sweet but spicy mouthwatering finish, with smoke, white pepper and cloves.

  • Conclusion:

Really wild one, you can easily imagine Earl Haakon himself slashing his axe around. This special and limited edition makes it taste even better. But unfortunately the price for this one is a bit too high. The presentation of the wood case and bottle is like you can expect from Highland Park, spot on.
